HEKATE Workshops in Manchester and Hamburg – the concept works!

IMG_0903 IMG_0703The second set of HEKATE workshops has been successfully conducted. The workshops took place 24-25 March 2015 in Manchester and 8-10 April 2015 in Hamburg.

40 PhD candidates, post docs, young professionals in industry and also some recent founders of startups used the opportunity to participate in one of the two workshops. Two of them also visited the HEKATE workshop in Manchester AND the one in Hamburg and benefitted from the complementary approach of both workshops.

Whereas “Enterprising scientists: generating value and opportunities” at Manchester Business School focussed on intrapreneurship and insights into innovation in industry, “Turning ideas into business opportunities” supported the work on own business ideas to pave the way to their commercialisation. Lecturers from UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands provided a wealth of insights and experiences out of their careers in big multinationals, startups and academia.

It takes some time to build trusting networks between industry and acdemia in higher education, but the benefit for participants is definitely worth the effort!

Thank you to all contributors of the workshops, the participants and the HEKATE project team!

Our findings of the four HEKATE workshops will be published as a report. Visit us again and keep updated!
